Level of French in One Month

Level of French in One Month

How do I reach a B1 level in French in 1 month of studying for 12–14 hours a day from scratch? What level can I realistically expect after 400 hours?

Reflecting on my own experience, my initial approach involved immersing myself in the language, absorbing vocabulary through various resources. However, within a week, I found myself overwhelmed and yearning for a more effective strategy.

Recognizing the need for structure, I enlisted the guidance of an instructor to navigate the intricacies of French grammar. Within five months, I had covered the grammatical foundation, understanding that grammar, though essential, is just one facet of language acquisition.

The real breakthrough came when I transitioned to daily 30 minutes conversations with a dedicated French instructor. While I had grasped basic French concepts, the ability to speak and comprehend in real-time remained a challenge. It was during this phase that I incorporated Édito books into my routine, furthering my understanding of the language. This consistent practice, coupled with engaging native speakers who corrected my language nuances, led to a significant improvement in my proficiency within just two months.

Transitioning to exam preparation, I continued refining my skills with the help of a native speaker, who not only corrected my exercises but also provided valuable insights through conversational practice.

Throughout this transformative journey, the key ingredient was unwavering consistency. Despite the demands of a full-time job and familial responsibilities, dedicating 3-4 hours daily to language study was non-negotiable. The journey demanded persistence and resilience.

In summation, achieving a B2 level in French within 10-12 months is a realistic goal, provided one is willing to invest time, adopt a structured approach, and remain consistent.

The timeline may vary based on individual efforts, but the essence lies in the dedication to the learning process. Best of luck on your language-learning adventure!
